How does one go about hiding a 30-metre pole in the midst of the suburbs? It’s a tall order, but The Toronto Star reports that New Life Church in Milton is thinking of doing just that. If plans go through, the Thompson Road-area church will construct a “cross style steel telecommunications mono-pole tower” - that is, a shiny 10-storey cross to house a Bell cell phone tower. The application was made on February 28, but locals are balking. Meanwhile up north, Bell is turning to nature for cover. The company may plant about 20 towers disguised as trees just north of Toronto, the CBC reports. Thedailyplanet.com looks into cell phone towers masquerading as, well, anything but that.
